Hangman is a classic pencil-and-paper word game, guessed letter by letter against a hidden word. Every correct guess fills in a blank; every wrong guess draws one more piece of the gallows figure. Run out of tries before the word is complete, and the figure is finished before you are.
There's no luck to lean on beyond letter frequency — vowels and common consonants are safer early guesses, while rare letters are a gamble best saved for when you've narrowed the word down. It rewards a bit of vocabulary and a bit of probability, in roughly equal parts.
